Hyderabad: The Telangana government has extended full support to the Centre’s Rs1,000-crore Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industry and Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme, aimed at boosting energy efficiency across India’s MSME sector. The initiative is being implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) under the Ministry of Power and is rapidly gaining momentum nationwide.
As part of the National ADEETIE Series, Telangana welcomed the Centre’s decision to select the pharma industry cluster in Medak as one of the first beneficiaries. Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu described ADEETIE as a “boon to MSMEs,” noting its potential to transform industrial energy usage and significantly enhance productivity.
The Minister directed the Industries Department to prepare a comprehensive roadmap to ensure effective implementation of energy-efficiency projects across the state. He said Telangana aims to turn ADEETIE into a national model for MSME-driven sustainable development.
During the event, Sridhar Babu unveiled a special ADEETIE promotion and communication report prepared by A Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Media Adviser at BEE and EESL. He urged the Union Government to expand the scheme to more MSME clusters in Telangana—including chemicals, food processing, steel re-rolling and other sectors—to drive both economic growth and environmental sustainability.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to combating climate change, the Minister said energy-efficient industrial clusters not only reduce operational costs but also strengthen MSME competitiveness. He added that Telangana will work closely with BEE, EESL, the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Heavy Industries and TSREDCO to ensure seamless implementation.
Highlighting Telangana’s industrial momentum, Sridhar Babu noted that the state has attracted over Rs3.2 lakh crore in investments in the last 18 months. He said Hyderabad now ranks among the top three urban FDI destinations in the country for R&D, AI and data centre investments.
The Minister recalled Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s call for collective action to make Telangana a $1-trillion economy by 2035, adding that energy efficiency, renewable energy expansion and reliable 24/7 power supply will be critical to achieving this vision.
Joining the event virtually, BEE Secretary Milind Deore urged all states to utilize the ADEETIE scheme to its full potential, calling it a landmark step toward improving MSME energy performance and global competitiveness. He said Medak district’s pharma cluster was chosen for its high potential and active industrial base.
The ADEETIE scheme offers end-to-end support for MSMEs, including Investment Grade Energy Audits, Detailed Project Reports, financing assistance and Monitoring & Verification. The programme is expected to leverage more than Rs9,000 crore in total investments, combining government support and MSME contributions.
Currently operational across 60 clusters and 14 energy-intensive sectors—including textiles, food processing and foundries—the scheme follows a phased rollout to deliver measurable energy savings and strengthen MSME capabilities nationwide.
